This book was so heartbreaking. It's a short story only 198 pages. It's told by a girl where a traumatic event happened to her in the 8th grade. She doesn't tell anyone. She goes to 9th grade with no friends and was being bullied. She uses art to express her feelings. She has to discover courage to find her voice and tell someone what happened to her. Just finished watching the movie where Kristen Stewart plays Melinda. I did not cry while reading the book but I did cry at the end of the movie when she finally tells her mom what happened to her. This book is for mature teenagers.
