A - Mitch Albom - For One More Day
B - David Baldacci - One Summer

From #1 New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci comes a moving family drama about learning to love again after heartbreak and loss.

ONE SUMMER

It's almost Christmas, but there is no joy in the house of terminally ill Jack and his family. With only a short time left to live, he spends his last days preparing to say goodbye to his devoted wife, Lizzie, and their three children. Then, unthinkably, tragedy strikes again: Lizzie is killed in a car accident. With no one able to care for them, the children are separated from each other and sent to live with family members around the country. Just when all seems lost, Jack begins to recover in a miraculous turn of events. He rises from what should have been his deathbed, determined to bring his fractured family back together. Struggling to rebuild their lives after Lizzie's death, he reunites everyone at Lizzie's childhood home on the oceanfront in South Carolina. And there, over one unforgettable summer, Jack will begin to learn to love again, and he and his children will learn how to become a family once more.

My Review:  I loved this book. From the moment I picked it up from the library Friday night till now Monday I couldn't put the book down. I think this has been the fastest I have ever read a book because I'm a very slow reader.  There is a surprise in the beginning and, of course, there are some unbelievable things that happen but it's a book.  Great for a summer read.

ABC Reading - A = Mitch Albom - For One More Day

First let me say I got this idea from one of my goodreads bookclubs.  You read books in order of Author's last name in A, B, C order.  Since I have over 200 books on my wish list I figured this would be a great way to tackle all those books. So let me start with letter A.

A - Mitch Albom - For One More Day

"Every family is a ghost story . . ."

Mitch Albom mesmerized readers around the world with his number oneNew York Times bestsellers, The Five People You Meet in Heaven andTuesdays with Morrie. Now he returns with a beautiful, haunting novel about the family we love and the chances we miss.

For One More Day is the story of a mother and a son, and a relationship that covers a lifetime and beyond. It explores the question: What would you do if you could spend one more day with a lost loved one?
As a child, Charley "Chick" Benetto was told by his father, "You can be a mama's boy or a daddy's boy, but you can't be both." So he chooses his father, only to see the man disappear when Charley is on the verge of adolescence.

Decades later, Charley is a broken man. His life has been crumbled by alcohol and regret. He loses his job. He leaves his family. He hits bottom after discovering his only daughter has shut him out of her wedding. And he decides to take his own life.

He makes a midnight ride to his small hometown, with plans to do himself in. But upon failing even to do that, he staggers back to his old house, only to make an astonishing discovery. His mother who died eight years earlier is still living there, and welcomes him home as if nothing ever happened.

What follows is the one "ordinary" day so many of us yearn for, a chance to make good with a lost parent, to explain the family secrets, and to seek forgiveness. Somewhere between this life and the next, Charley learns the astonishing things he never knew about his mother and her sacrifices. And he tries, with her tender guidance, to put the crumbled pieces of his life back together.

Through Albom's inspiring characters and masterful storytelling, readers will newly appreciate those whom they love and may have thought they'd lost in their own lives. For One More Day is a book for anyone in a family, and will be cherished by Albom's millions of fans worldwide.

My Review: For A I chose Mitch Alborn "For One More Day". I rented it from the library in kindle version on Tues Night. I finished it Thurs morning. It was such a good book I couldn't put it down.

The book really makes you think about your family, especially your mom or dad and the choices you make. If anyone wants a quick read I highly recommend picking this one up.

Creative Triplet Mom Reads

When I was a teenager and while I was working in New York City I would read tons of books commuting to work via the train and boat.  Then life happened and I had triplets.  So for the past 8 years I didn't have much time to read. Now, that the kids are older and starting to read themselves I started to pick up reading again.  Of course, now my scrapbooking is on hold once again.  I can only really have one hobby at a time.  Can't fit everything in.

I joined goodreads where I have been getting tons of book recommendations from many different friends.  I also joined some book clubs there.  I will use this blog to write my reviews of certain books that I have read.  So let the posts begin.
